Fiona Garner was born and raised in the UK, and emigrated to Canada with her parents in 1990 to settle in the Niagara Region. In the UK she worked for the British Government, heavily involved in the Scout movement in the UK and even obtained her Queens Scout and Duke of Edinburgh Gold awards, which gave her confidence, maturity and leadership skills. Upon coming to Canada Fiona decided to change her field of work. She first trained as a Medical Office Administrator and worked for various doctors and surgeons in the Niagara Region. This was very rewarding but she decided to take it a step further and do more hands on work with people so she went back to school in 1997 to train to become a Personal Support Worker.
Fiona worked in various long term care facilities and retirement homes both in an administration and nursing capacity. She also worked on a pilot program with Ontario March of Dimes to help keep the elderly in their own homes rather than have them enter a facility. During this time she developed an interested in Senior care and wellness. After meeting her husband in 2009 she decided to move to Newmarket and pursue a new career path. Fiona spent two very extensive and intensive years studying to become a Registered Massage Therapist. She became registered with the College of Massage Therapy of Ontario in July of 2012 after passing her Ontario Board exams. Since 2012 she has honed her skills further by completing courses in Soft Tissue Release, Hot Stone Massage and Pregnancy Massage. Fiona still loves working with Seniors and can adapt both her RMT training and PSW training to ensure that Senior's are receiving the best possible benefits from a massage treatment. She truly loves treating her clients of all ages and walks of life who attend the clinic for pain relief from injuries and surgery. She also loves meeting people and being able to help people as a Registered Massage Therapist really gives her a tremendous amount of satisfaction. She looks forward to “Welcoming you to Wellness” here at InspireHealth Niagara. In her spare time, Fiona likes traveling with her Husband Ted and enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves to sing and will be seen in Port Colborne Operatic Society’s productions. Fiona was a volunteer firefighter with both the Town of Fort Erie and the City of Thorold until she moved to Newmarket in 2009.
